Towns & beaches
Boasting 37 kilometres of pristine coastline, rugged national parkland and sweeping rural valleys, Wyong Shire is known as the jewel of the Central Coast to the locals.
Tuggarah Lakes
East of Wyong town centre, the Wyong River flows into a large coastal lagoon, called Tuggerah Lake which dominates the area. A tidal channel, known as the Entrance, connects the lake to the sea. Tuggerah Lake is joined to Budgewoi Lake and Munmorah Lake creating a natural paradise for water and sports enthusiasts. The lakes are ideal for swimming, boating, fishing, kayaking and sailing.
Other beaches
Across Tuggerah Lake are pristine beaches such as Norah Head, Bateau Bay and The Entrance known for their sparkling waters. The bays offer smooth protected waters for sailing while the coast has outstanding surfing, beautiful sandy beaches, and rock pools filled with abundant life for inquisitive minds to explore.
The entrance
Ten minutes from Kooindah waters is The Entrance, a lively seaside town that has a boardwalk that hugs the waters edge which is popular with joggers and parents with prams. The waterfront is an attractive open air pedestrian mall overlooking a large expanse of foreshore parkland. It features fountains, playgrounds, outdoor restaurants and an endless array of shops and markets.
No visit would be complete without watching the pelican feeding on the boardwalk daily at 3.30pm.
Hinterland
Away from the coast, Yarramalong and Dooralong Valley are areas of stunning scenery and rural tranquillity. Hinterland bushwalking, horse riding and cycling are truly rewarding experiences.
